In zInspector, an Activity is an inspection report (conditions, comments, etc), a standard or custom form or document, or a group of media (photos/videos/360s) created for a particular activity and property on a particular day. Once uploaded from your mobile device, Activities appear in Timeline as with different icons.
Activities in Timeline
In this example, six Activities are displayed in Timeline:
These six activities, in chronological order, are:
- Jan 6: A Quick Pictures “Bid” activity for Testman Way.
- Jan 6: A Quick Pictures “Repair” activity for Testman Way.
- Jan 7: A Tenant-Completed Move In for Testman Way.
- Jan 7: A Move In Inspection for Testing Lane.
- Jan 8: A Quick Pictures “Notice” activity for Beach Blvd.
- Jan 8: A Tenant Violation report for Beach Blvd.
Property-Specific Activities
In this example, the Timeline is filtered to show only activities for a specific property:
The activities displayed for Testman, in chronological order, are:
- Jan 4: A Quick Pictures “Leasing” activity.
- Jan 7: A Quick Pictures “Maintenance” activity..
- Jan 7: The photos (media) taken on day 1 of the Move In inspection (Inspect mode).
- Jan 8: The photos (media) taken on day 2 of the Move In inspection (Inspect mode).
- Jan 8: The final/submitted Move In Inspection report.
Note: Timeline can also be filtered by Activity Type and to include/exclude documents.
Multiple Activities for a Single Inspection?
When you perform an inspection over several days (in Inspect mode), media will be display as a separate activity for each date, depending on when it was created. The photos associated with a given activity should automatically appear in the final report. If they do not, simply review your Span settings.
Activity Icons — What They Mean
Combined with the title of a given folder, which indicates the Activity type, the Activity icon specifies what is contained within the Activity:
This is a media activity. It contains one or more photos, videos, and/or 360s. It may be a standalone activity (Quick Pictures) mode or the media for a subsequently submitted inspection or document activity (Inspect mode).
This is an inspection activity. It contains a submitted inspection report, typically including condition values, comments, and the like. Associated media activities should automatically attach to the report based on Span settings.
This is a document activity. It contains a submitted standard or custom form or document. Associated media activities should automatically attach to the report based on Span settings.
Note: When clicked on in the Timeline, Documents created in the classic zInspector app will download directly, whereas those created in zInspector 3 can be opened and edited as needed.
What’s in a Name?
The Activity name is determined by the Activity tag selected in Quick Pictures mode or by the inspection or document template title selected in Inspect mode.
Multi-User Activities
Multiple group members can take Quick Pictures photos for the same Activity and synchronize them with any other group members’ preexisting photos for that Activity. The individual photo sets will merge together in the same Activity for the same property and date.
However, only one user should use Inspect mode for a specific activity, such as a Move Out inspection for a given property. Other users can supplement the main Inspect activity by taking photos or other media in Quick Pictures mode. With the same property and Activity type (e.g., Move Out) selected, their additional media should combine with the submitted report automatically.
