Standard comments fields, often located at the end of a template, can now be replaced with a rich-text field. Rich-text comments can include bold, italicized, and underlined text, as well as bullet points. These formatting options can add structure, clarity, and emphasis to your comments. Example:

Adding a Rich-Text Comment Field to a Template

You can add a rich-text comments field to any custom template in a few easy steps.

1. On the zInspector website, go to Settings > Document Templates.
2. Click the New Draft (drafting compass) icon for the relevant template to begin editing.
3. If the System Document field is present (image below), click on it and delete it from the template. Doing so will allow you to save your custom version of this template and ignore possible future updates to the default version of the template.
4. Remove any standard comments field that you want to replace with a rich-text comment field; simply click on the comments field (in yellow) and delete it.  Example Additional Comments field below:
5. Add the rich-text comment field. Copy-paste this field where you want it to appear in the template: Z:[[Rich Text | Additional Comments]]. 
6. Now customize the newly added rich-text comment field, if needed.  Double-click on it to get started.
   • Change the Field Name, if needed. Alternate suggestions for this field name are Final Comments, General Comments, Summary, or Notes to Tenant.
   • Under Arguments, add a default text, if you wish. Default text will pre-populate in the comment editor for your convenience as simple text. (Example: These are the key inspection findings. Please review the entire inspection and provide any feedback within 3 business days.) During an inspection, you can add additional rich-text comments, such as a bulleted list, beneath this pre-populated comment.
7. When satisfied, click OK.
8. Back on the main template screen, change the plain-text field title, as appropriate: in the example above, the title is the bold, non-highlighted text above the comment field itself (reading “Additional Comments”). For instance, if you have changed the Field Name to Final Comments, you can change this to “Final Comments” as well: simply click and edit. 
9. Finally, click Publish.

When you next start a new inspection using the modified template, your opened comment editor will look something like this:

Add your rich-text comment, tap the checkmark to save it, and proceed with the rest of the inspection.

Notes:

• Only Admin users can edit the templates available on a group account.
• Rich-text field enhancement only applies to standalone comments fields. Comments within a condition table cannot be enhanced with rich text.
