During the course of an inspection, you may find it helpful to view or even instantly apply previous inspection conditions to the current one.
To begin, start an Inspect mode condition-based inspection in the app. Make sure you specify a property for which you have previously completed a Move-In or Move-Out inspection.
Just below the template header and above the Area list, you will see a section called Move In Conditions or Move Out Conditions—depending on the current inspection type. Listed in this section is the date of the last Move In or Move Out performed for this property (if any).
Below Last: Move [In/Out] you will see either Compare: On or Compare: Off, depending on whether last inspection comparison view is currently enabled or not. To toggle it on or off, simply tap on Compare: On (to turn it off) or tap on Compare: Off (to turn it on). Open the first listed property area to see the effect.
With Compare: Off, the previous inspection findings are not visible. Use this mode to perform the inspection without referring to previous inspection findings.
With Compare: On, the previous inspection findings are visible. Use this mode to perform the inspection by confirming previous and/or noting new inspection findings.
If very little has changed on the property since the last Move In or Move Out, you may opt to apply the previous inspection changes directly to the current template to save time and effort. To do so, tap and hold on Compare: On/Off for several seconds until a message pops up. It will look something like this:
Tap Yes to actually apply the previous findings to the current inspection. Rather than show as colored outlines, the previous conditions will show as if they were directly selected during the current inspection, like this:
You can now make changes as needed to conditions and comments and take photos to document the actual current property conditions, add required documentation (depending on the template), and submit the report as usual.
Pro Tip: You can also call up the previous inspection’s photos for a property by holding down on the camera icon for any area.
Not seeing the previous inspection’s photos on the newly submitted report? Adjust Span settings under Options when viewing a report preview from the Timeline. Enabling All Activities and increasing the span (number of days) to include photos from the last Move In or Move Out inspection is usually all it takes. You can download a PDF or share an HTML link to the report with these adjusted span settings. Span settings revert to the Global Settings (here) when a report preview is closed, but can be readjusted manually any time.
