zInspector 3 App Settings
Customize, personalize, and troubleshoot key aspects of your mobile zInspector 3 experience. Tap the cog icon at upper right of the app screen to access Settings.
After changing any settings, you can tap the back (<) button (upper left) to return to the previous screen; your settings will be saved automatically. If you wish to exit the app directly after changing settings, tap Save and Return below the main settings panes to ensure your changes will be saved.
WiFi Settings
WiFi settings determine the circumstances under which inspection data uploads to the website. Adjusted them to conserve mobile data, expedite uploading, or troubleshoot Queue upload issues.
High priority items on WiFi only (not recommended) – High priority items, which consume very little data, are restricted to upload on WiFi only. We highly recommend this item be left unchecked so that high priority items (such as the non-media portion of inspections—containing comments, conditions, etc) be allowed to upload as efficiently as possible.
Photos on WiFi only – Inspection photos will only upload when the device has a WiFi connection. Recommended for users with limited mobile data.
Videos on WiFi only – Inspection videos will only upload when the device has a WiFi connection. Recommended for users with limited mobile data.
Note: Regardless of settings, inspection data can only upload when the app is open (even if it is open in the background) on the mobile device and the device is not in sleep mode.
Sync Settings
Queue Notifications – Notifications pertaining to the upload Queue (e.g., errors or items pending) are permitted, but only if notifications are also enabled for zInspector 3 in device settings.
Queue Periodic Background Uploads – The app will periodically attempt to upload remaining Queue items. Otherwise, Queue upload will attempt when an item is first generated, when the app is opened, or when the Retry All button is tapped on the Queue screen.
Prevent sleep if uploading – Prevents device sleep until all possible Queue items have uploaded (iOS only).
Sync frequency (minutes) – Determines the frequency of automatic syncing between the device and website for updates relating to account settings and updates to property records. Options are 1, 10, and 60 minutes. The app will also re-sync automatically when the app is opened or any time the Sync button is manually pressed.
Task Settings
Show only tasks assigned to me – Only tasks assigned to the current user will be displayed and accessible to them on the app.
Misc. Settings
Days to keep photos on device – Once uploaded, photos remain locally stored for the specified number of days (Options are Never, 1, 3, 7 and 30 days). While stored locally, photos can be accessed and worked with in the Gallery. Users with limited device storage are recommended to specify a lower number of days.
Photos Quality – Max (original), High (1920p), Average (1024p), or Low (800p) resolution. Your device may not support all quality settings.
Videos Quality – 720 p (HD, ~20 sec max), 480p (SD, ~ 50 sec max), 4:3 (VGA, ~60 sec max), 288p (CIF, ~90 sec max). Your device may not support all quality settings.
Aspect Ratio – 1:1 (Square), 4:3 (Standard), 16:9 (Wide). Your device may not support all aspect ratios.
Photos Fast Capture – Allows bypass of camera restrictions in order to speed up capture time. May not be compatible with all devices: use at your own risk.
Auto Send Crash Logs – In the event of an app crash, a log is sent automatically to zInspector support.
Reports Request Prompt – When returning to the main screen after a Quick Pictures activity, the user is asked whether or not a report should be processed.
Pause Reports if Errors – Pauses the processing of reports if errors are affecting associated inspection data, such as photos or videos.
Double Prompt to Delete Media – Requires you to confirm twice before deleting inspection media (photos or videos). Helps prevent accidental deletion.
Location Denied Prompt – Alerts you if Location Services is disabled for zInspector 3 in your device settings. Location Services is required for geotagging photos and using the Directions feature.
Force Pictures/Comments Prompt – Alerts you if required documentation needs to be provided before the inspection can proceed to review and submission.
Documents Nested Scrolling – Allows detail lists to scroll up/down while the area list itself remains locked in place. It may assist some users in staying on track or minimize unnecessary scrolling.
Display Settings
Change Colors – Select from 12 color themes to personalize your zInspector experience.
Change Scaling – Scale the interface from 70% to 250% to aid with accessibility for some users. Larger scaling may be most effective when used on a large-screen device (such as an iPad) and/or in landscape orientation.
Storage Settings
Force Full Sync – Sync your device to the website to send/receive the most recent changes to account settings and property records.
Reclaim Unused Space – Potentially frees up device storage space that the app may no longer need to consume.
Account Access Settings
Switch Account – Used to switch between different users on a single zInspector account or between separate zInspector accounts.
Logout – Used to log out of the app. User name and password entry will be required to log back in.
Note: Certain settings (Change Colors, Change Scaling, Switch Accounts, and Logout) are not available (greyed out) while an inspection is open on the device. Save/close or submit the inspection and then return to the settings menu to make the desired change, switch accounts, or log out.
