At zInspector, we strive to bring you the features you need. Most of our new feature releases are based directly on user feedback. Here we cover two related features we delivered upon request:
Share a Read-Only Property Inspection Report (via HTML link)
This feature allows you to easily share a read-only html version of the inspection activity report, including clickable image links. This, rather than a PDF, can be a great way to share the report with an outside party, such as a tenant or property owner— it just depends on your preference.
- In your Timeline, select the desired report or other activity.
- Click the Share button, and enter the email address(s) to which you would like to send a link to a read-only html report. You can also select a Contact email address from the dropdown list below the free-text field, if available.
- Customize the Email Subject line and Email Body as desired. Make sure not to alter the link itself, or it will not work!
- Click Share/Email.
Tip: Want to Share a custom document instead? You use the same basic method—it just looks a bit different. Click the Share button when viewing the desired document. Copy the link and paste it into an email body as needed.
Note: In the previous version of zInspector, Share was only available with Span set to 0 (i.e., a report could only be Shared via link for a specific day’s activity). It was necessary to set Span to zero, click Refresh, scroll to bottom left of the activity gallery then use the “Change Date of Activity” box to move every inspection item (e.g., photo) to the most recent date of the activity to be shared. Now, you can Share a report with a Span greater than 0 without performing any additional steps!
Open a Property Inspection Report in Microsoft Word
Some zInspector users want to able to open a completed report in Microsoft Word, or other application that can open an html file, or add them to a larger document for viewing, editing, or extracting data. zInspector makes this quick and easy:
- In your Timeline, select the desired report or other activity.
- Click the Share button, and copy the html link by clicking on the Copy button (or using a right-click Copy function).
- Open Microsoft Word. Click File, and select Open.
- Paste the copied link into the File name field, and click Open.
Note: Other applications that can open an html file for editing may work somewhat differently, but the same general procedure should apply.
